From Chaos to Calling: You Were Built to Rise

When Life Feels Like a Wilderness
If you’ve ever felt like life threw you into the wilderness with no map, no warning, and no way out, you’re not alone. That chaotic season—the one filled with obstacles, delays, confusion, and detours—might’ve been the exact thing preparing you for your next level. What looks like destruction can often be disguised construction. You are not broken. You are being built.
In Deuteronomy 8:2, we see how the Israelites were led through the wilderness for forty years. Why? To be humbled. To be tested. To reveal what was truly in their hearts. That passage isn't just about ancient history—it’s about you. About how your current challenge might be more about preparation than punishment. God already knew what you were capable of. The wilderness wasn’t for Him to find out—it was for you to see it.
Resistance Doesn’t Mean You’re Not Ready
When you try to start something new, and it feels like the world is collapsing around you, don’t assume that means you're on the wrong path. Sometimes that resistance is divine confirmation that you’re on sacred ground. I often say this: the opposition you face isn’t rejection—it’s refinement. Think about the dreams you've held, the ideas you wanted to birth, and how chaos tried to convince you to give up. But you didn’t. You’re still here, and that means something.
Who the Chosen Really Are
I spent over two decades as an educator, and I saw the same pattern year after year. In every class, there were three types of students: those who would always do the work, those who had no intention of ever doing the work, and the ones in the middle—the undecideds. That last group was the most powerful. Not because they were naturally gifted or always on task, but because they had the choice. They could go left or right. And when they chose to rise—despite distractions, despite doubt, despite outside influence—they stood out in a way that transformed them and the classroom around them.
That’s what being chosen looks like. Not perfection. Decision. Not privilege. Persistence. You don’t get picked because you had the best setup—you get picked because you didn’t give up when everything said you should.
Let Go of the Extra Stuff
Sometimes it’s not failure that blocks us—it’s excess. Too much comparison. Too many opinions. Too many options. I travel often, and I used to carry four different phones, cords, chargers, adapters… until I realized the weight was slowing me down. Once I simplified and carried only what I needed, I moved with more ease and clarity.
The same is true for your calling. You don’t need ten courses, a million followers, or a shiny website to start. You need focus. You need faith. You need one next step. And you already know what that step is. You’ve just been waiting for permission. Let this be it.
The Power of Doing What You Were Built For
The belief that you have to “have it all together” before you begin is one of the biggest lies holding people back. Purpose isn’t about perfection—it’s about participation. It's about showing up, even when you feel like a mess. Proverbs 10:4 reminds us, “A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.” In other words, showing up consistently is what shifts your life. Not talent. Not timing. Not luck. Diligence.
So no, you don’t need a picture-perfect brand, a huge platform, or flawless execution. You need vision. You need courage. And you need to remember that what you’ve survived qualifies you to lead.
Your Pain Has a Purpose (and a Product)
I believe we are all walking frameworks—systems of wisdom formed by what we’ve been through. Your pain didn’t come to bury you; it came to build your unique purpose power product. Maybe you fixed a broken relationship, overcame financial hardship, battled depression, or walked through the fire of rejection. If you turned that test into a tool, that story into strategy—then you are already equipped to help others do the same.
That’s what impact looks like. Not just teaching from what you know, but from what you lived. You’re not just a coach, creator, or entrepreneur—you’re a guide. A light carrier. Someone who rose from chaos and now carries the call to lead others home.
We’re Meant to Help Each Other Rise
I was raised in the South, near a farm, and some of the best lessons I learned didn’t come from textbooks—they came from front porches. From sitting with my aunts, cousins, and neighbors, swapping stories and recipes. We’d teach each other how to boil peanuts, fix cornbread, or season greens just right. It wasn’t about perfection—it was about passing wisdom forward.
That’s what we need again. Not more content. More connection. Not more striving. More service. If each of us took what we’ve lived through and used it to help just one person, the ripple effect would be unstoppable.
You Were Built to Rise
Let me say it clearly: you were built for this. Not in spite of what you’ve been through—but because of it. The heartbreak, the chaos, the detours, the failures—they were all molding something greater in you. You didn’t quit. You didn’t break. And now you’re ready to walk in purpose.
Zig Ziglar once said, “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” The fear won’t leave. But neither will the call. Choose to rise anyway, because fear has two meanings:
Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise.
You already know which one you were built for.<iframe style="border-radius:12px"
CLIMB Action:
Write this down today:
1. What have I survived?
2. Who can I serve with what I know?
3. What is one simple way I can start?
Now do it. Even if it’s messy. Even if it’s small. Especially if it’s uncomfortable.
